Corrosion Test for Engine Coolants in Glassware
Specimens of metals commonly found in engine cooling systems—such as copper, brass, steel, solder, cast iron, and cast aluminum—are immersed in aerated engine coolant solutions for 336 hours at 190 °F (88 °C). The corrosion inhibiting properties of the solutions are assessed by measuring the weight changes of the metal specimens.
